People ask why I became a photographer. I don't think I became a photographer, I have taken pictures since I was very young. I remember being in second or third grade and being given a camera and taking pictures of the ocean because we did not go to the ocean very often. Throughout my life, I've taken photographs of things that move me. For me, photography is a way of looking at the world. So often our worldview is narrowed by what we choose to look at such as our electronic devices and television shows. Photograph opens up my perspective and forces me to be in the moment. And I want to capture those things that I see and feel. I admit to not always being successful in my endeavor but most of the photographs I take are things that move me. Thus, while a picture at dusk where the sky has turned purple with streaks of orange might not be very exciting, it reminds me of the peace and serenity of the moment. I also try to photograph things that are not regularly seen or often overlooked. I try to take photographs that people will look at, take a deep breath, and feel the beauty and serenity of the scene.
